After days of multiple stunts, Todd Nixon’s Sticks Media launched Classic Hits “Rocket 103.7” 1410 KTNK/103.7 K279CY Lompoc CA at 9am today.
Positioning as “Lompoc’s Greatest Hits” with a 1980s centered playlist, the new brand creates a locally focused competitor to Cumulus Media’s 103.3 KRUZ Santa Barbara and American General Media Variety Hits “Pirate Radio 104.1” KBOX Lompoc. Nixon will host mornings from 7-10am. WNBZ-FM Plattsburgh NY PD/morning host Rick Woodhouse will host middays, with locally based Tayler Smith in afternoons.
The brand launched with the brand-appropriate Deg Leppard “Rocket” and Elton John “Rocketman” followed by Tears For Fears “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and Irene Cara “Flashdance (What A Feeling)”
Nixon commented, “Radio is more than just music-it’s about connection, information, and being a part of daily life in Lompoc. Rocket 103.7 isn’t just another station-it’s built for this community, with a mix of music and local content that truly reflects what Lompoc wants to hear.”
Update 2/9: The stunting has continued on Sticks Media’s former Classic Country “Y’all 103.7” 1410 KTNK/103.7 K279CY Lompoc CA.
After previously stunting as “Elon-FM” and “The Hoff“, the KTNK stunting has continued to evolve with Saturday dedicated to nonstop Britney Spears and Sunday as “Space Radio” with clips of astronaut interviews and astronomical themed music.
The station is streaming here.
Original Report 2/6: Sticks Media has dropped Classic Country “Y’all 103.7” from 1410 KTNK/103.7 K279CY Lompoc CA and is currently stunting with nonstop music from David Hasselhoff as “103.7 The Hoff“.
This stunt follows a couple days of stunting as “Elon FM“. The now-former Classic Country brand launched in September 2023 following the purchase of the station from veteran Country radio programmer Todd Nixon. Nixon programmed KBEQ Kansas City from 2017 until the end of 2024 with previous stints at WYZB Fort Walton Beach, KRMD-FM Shreveport, WCKT Fort Myers, WCTQ Sarasota, WTQR Greensboro, and WNCB Raleigh. He also had been tracking mornings on KTNK.
As of this writing the station’s website and streaming are down ahead of whatever is next to take off for the station.
