FCC Report 4/6: Savannah AM Move-In Proposed

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
April 6, 2025

FCC Seal 2020 Federal Communications Commission

FCC Actions

The FCC has amended the FM Table of Allotments to restore allocations that had seen their licenses or construction permits cancelled. The allocations restored were:

  • Hope AR 104.9 Class A
  • Grand Marais MN 95.3 Class C1
  • Valier MT 105.7 Class C1
  • Dalhart T 96.1 Class C1
  • Kermit TX 93.7 Class A
  • Mount Vernon TX 100.5 Class A
  • Oakwood TX 94,5 Class A
  • O’Brien TX 105.5 Class C2
  • Seyour TX 93.9 Class C2

The commission has also moved the Class A allocation in Avenal CA from 101.7 to 106.9.

In a separate action, the FCC has adjusted a March 2024 decision to amend the FM Table of Allotments.

SSR Communications had sought the addition of a Class A on 102.3 in Koloa HI on the southeast part of the island of Kauai. Pacific Radio Group countered with the placement of the allocation as a C3 in Waimea in the southwest. The FCC originally granted alternate channels with Koloa getting 100.7 and Waimea 92.7.

Now the commission says that 100.7 in Koloa does not comply with the minimum distance spacing requirements of its rules and is substituting the originally requested 102.3 in Koloa for a Class A allocation.

License Cancellations

After requesting the cancellation of its license in October 2023 and then rescinding it within the 30 day grace period, Eastern Oregon University has once again surrendered 91.7 KEOL La Grande OR. All references to the station have been removed from the university’s website.

Pacifica Foundation has turned in the licenses of three translators: 90.3 K212FV Goodrich TX (had been rebroadcasting 90.1 KPFT Houston), 94.3 K232FZ Monterey and 97.5 K248BR Santa Cruz CA (both had been rebroadcasting 94.1 KPFA Berkeley).

Silent Notifications

One additional Cumulus Media station went silent on March 26 as “ESPN 1320” WISW Columbia SC with the same boilerplate statement the other stations said noting that Cumulus “is in the process of deciding whether to change the format or sell the station.”
