One of Cumulus Media’s stations was forced to change formats by the company’s upcoming shutdown of seven of Westwood One’s 24/7 formats.
With the “Good Time Oldies” network being discontinued, “Z104” WWIZ West Middlesex PA/Youngstown OH has flipped to AC still using a Westwood One 24/7 format. Retaining the “Z104” branding, the station is now positioning as “Today’s Hits and Yesterday’s Favorites” as it moves into competition with iHeartMedia’s market leading “Mix 98.9” WMXY.
WMXY had a 9.5 share in the Fall 2024 Nielsen Audacy ratings. WWIZ’s Oldies format had a 1.3 share down from a 2.0 in the Spring.
