Big Toe Media will flip “Fox Sports 590” KFNS Wood River IL/St. Louis to “The Lou Information Station” under new KLIS call letters on June 1 as part of a digital content platform that will include live and on-demand shows also available via its website, app, YouTube and all podcast platforms.
The station will carry a mix of programming covering multiple subjects including current events, local sports, business, music, wellness and mental health, food, entertainment and comedy. A list of contributors will include FanDuel Sports Midwest’s Jim Hayes, former St. Louis Blues player Cam Janssen, former KPNT host Tony Patrico, City Lifestyle magazine owners Kelley Lamm and Gordon Montgomery, St. Louis American Sports Editor Earl Austin Jr., longtime St. Louis personality Charlie ‘Tuna’ Edwards, and other local personalities.
President/Director of Sales Dave Greene said, “When we set out to build The Lou Information Station, our goal was simple: to create a home for conversations that reflect the spirit of St. Louis — real, relevant, and local. We’re blending the best of broadcast and digital to reach people wherever they are — and with voices they know, like and trust. Talk content in St. Louis has gone stale. The market is long overdue for a fresh approach and our content will feature real conversations people actually want to hear.”
The station will also carry some syndicated programming when there is no live, local content including The Dave Ramsey Show and University of Illinois football and men’s basketball.
Big Toe Media announced its intention to acquire KFNS from Zobrist Media in April. The deal has still not been filed with FCC.
