Longtime New York personality Race Taylor is moving from middays to mornings at Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM.
Taylor joined WCBS-FM as midday host in July 2019 after a two decade run at Hot AC 95.5 WPLJ where he presided over the station’s sign-off in May 2019. Taylor also tracked in additional markets for Cumulus Media and Audacy during his tenures and worked at WKRQ Cincinnati and KDMX Dallas prior to his arrival in New York.
With Taylor moving to mornings, MD/afternoon host Jesse Addy moves up to middays and PD/morning host John Foxx takes over afternoons. Addy joined WCBS-FM in January 2024 after hosting afternoons at Country 94.7 WNSH for its entire run from 2013 to 2021 and has also worked at WDVD Detroit, WWWQ Atlanta, and WDBM Lansing MI. Foxx succeeded Scott Shannon as morning host at WCBS-FM at the start of 2023 also taking on the Brand Manager duties at that time. Foxx previously worked in the market as PD/afternoon host at WPLJ from 2012 to 2018 and PD of WNSH from 2016 until its demise in October 2021. He also was Regional Country Vice President for Audacy from 2020 to 2023 and Country “100.3 The Bull” KILT-FM Houston during his tenure with the company. He also has programmed Cumulus CHRs “I93” KLIF-FM Dallas and “98.9 Magic-FM” KKMG Colorado Springs. Foxx has been solo in mornings since Annie Leamy’s exit in the company’s March layoffs.
Foxx said, “One of the most recognizable voices on the radio in New York, Race brings an unparalleled legacy and deep-rooted connection with tri-state listeners spanning multiple generations to 101.1 CBS-FM. His love for this city, passion for the music and unstoppable ability to entertain are set to ignite mornings, creating a truly iconic, one-of-a-kind moment for our listeners and 101.1. With Jesse taking over middays, our refreshed lineup is designed to deliver a seamless, engaging experience all day long.”
Taylor commented, “Huge thanks to Chris Oliviero, Jeff Sottolano, John Foxx and Jim Ryan. I am grateful for this opportunity and hope to build upon the momentum that John and his team have already established in morning drive. I am well aware of the legendary talent who’ve previously occupied this daypart in New York City. They are the very foundation of the WCBS-FM legacy and brand. I hope to perform to their level of entertainment and excellence for years to come.”
Addy followed, “The city that shapes world economics, entertainment, pop culture and fashion every workday also never stops listening to WCBS-FM. I’ve heard the station in skyscrapers, cabs, bodegas, souvenir shops, diners and construction sites. It’s the soundtrack of New York. Thanks to John Foxx, Chris Oliviero, Jeff Sottolano and Jim Ryan for their continued support.”
