After stunting all weekend with the Cisco hold music, Connoisseur Media’s former “102.7 Jack-FM” KJXK San Antonio relaunched as “102.7 Bob-FM“.
The change retains the station’s previous Variety Hits format, albeit one that is customized for the market as opposed to using the national “Jack-FM“feed. Positioning as “80s, 90s and Whatever”, the refreshed brand launched at 7am today with Buggles “Video Killed The Radio Star”, Dire Straits “Money For Nothing”, Fleetwood Mac “Go Your Own Way”, Huey Lewis & The News “I Want A New Drug”, and Imagine Dragons “Radioactive”.
VP/Market Manager Morgan Harrison commented, “This is all about serving our listeners and clients even better. 102.7 Bob-FM keeps the Adult Hits format people enjoy, while giving us more room to spotlight San Antonio- its neighborhoods, its culture, and its sense of fun. We’re making radio that feels local, alive, and connected- the way it should be. At the heart of every great radio station are the people- On the Air, behind the scenes, and in
the community. With Connoisseur Media, that commitment comes first. We believe in local teams, strong partnerships, and being a positive force in the cities we serve.””
Operaions Manager Greg Martin said, “Our goal is simple: keep it fun and keep it consistent. Bob-FM is built around music that people know and love, delivered with personality. It’s easy to listen to, easy to enjoy, and it fits San Antonio perfectly.”
Original Report 1/1: Back on June 16, the then Alpha Media owned 102.7 KJXK San Antonio replaced its “Jack-FM” logo on social media with the one shown above and redirected its stream to the iHeartRadio player for its stream. However no changes took place on-air and by July 2, the Jack-FM logo and the website returned.
Right before Christmas, the website and social media were updated again and now the format wheel is spinning. On what would have been the 20th anniversary of the brand’s launch, KJXK dropped the “Jack-FM” brand and has begun stunting with the Cisco hold music and occasional messages noting the wait time is five days.
KJXK had launched as “102.7 Jack-FM” on January 1, 2006. The brand signed-off at midnight with Linkin Park “In The End”, Bob Seger “Turn The Page”, and NSync “Bye Bye Bye”.
Original Report 6/17: Is a rebrand imminent at Alpha Media Variety Hits “102.7 Jack-FM” KJXK San Antonio?
A number of digital changes on Monday are pointing to the station dropping its nearly two decade old identity in favor of just “San Antonio’s 102.7“. The station replaced its website with a redirect to the iHeartRadio player for the station’s stream, changed its social media handles to @SanAntonios1027, and began utilizing the adjacent logo on the digital assets. However, the Jack brand continues for now at least over the air.
KJXK, like Alpha Media’s other “Jack-FM” branded stations in Dayton OH, Redwood Falls MN, Topeka KS, Tyler TX, and Wenatchee WA, currently utilizes Sparknet Communications’ national “Jack-FM” playlist distributed by Local Radio Networks.
A rebrand would bring an end to the “102.7 Jack-FM” brand after nineteen and a half years as KJXK had flipped to Variety Hits on New Years Day in 2006. The station ranked eighth in the San Antonio market with a 4.8 share in the April 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings.
