Kalani Bowles’ Sky Radio & Press has relaunched 1420 WKAF (formerly WRSA) St. Albans VT as “The Swan” targeting “Women of Franklin County”.
The station’s website describes the new format as being “the number one station for the Women of Franklin County. This is your station for News, Music, Talk, Sports, and so much more. Here at Swan 1420am, we (WKAF) trace our roots back to the first commercial radio station in Vermont (WQDM, later WWSR and formerly WRSA-AM). We continue the tradition of putting our women and community first (after God, of course!).”
Bowles, who previously worked as a news reporter for iHeartMedia Cape Cod and has also held positions at television stations in Albany NY and the Quad Cities, is hosting mornings as Kalani Aaron. He describes his show as “For Franklin County Women, and those wishing them a great morning.” The station’s site lists other music blocks such as live versions of songs from 5-6am, “Non Stop Pop” from 12-3pm, “Hot Pop Hour” from 5-6pm, and “Indie Hours” from 7-9pm.
Bowles acquired the station, which previously simulcast then Hot AC “Mix 102.3” WIXM Grand Isle/Burlington, from Northeast Digital & Wireless in July 2024 for $25,000.
