Peter and John Ministries’ Brighter Media Group is expanding its coverage in central Maryland, south central Pennsylvania and parts of the panhandle of West Virginia with the acquisition of Country 104.7 WAYZ Hagerstown MD from Verstandig Broadcasting.
Brighter Media Group, which operates Christian AC “Bright-FM” 95.1 WRBS-FM Baltimore and 103.1 WRHS Grasonville MD, will pay $3.1 million for the 104.7 license and transmitter site. Verstandig will retain the WAYZ intellectual property and call letters as 104.7 will become WRYS. The 104.7 signal covers portions of the western suburbs of Baltimore and Washington DC, Frederick and Hagerstown MD, Chambersburg, Gettysburg and Hanover PA, and Martinsburg WV.
Peter and John Ministries General Manager Steve Lawhon stated, ““We’re grateful for the opportunity to expand BRIGHT-FM’s reach and impact more lives. Our mission—More People, Growing Deeper, Serving Others—drives everything we do. It’s a privilege to continue sharing hope and encouragement through a ministry that has touched hearts for over 75 years.”
Verstandig retains Sports/Talk “92.1 The Goat” WIKG Mercersburg PA, Rock “101.5 Bob Rocks” WBHB-FM Waynesboro PA, and “Fox Sports 1380/100.9” WLIN Waynesboro PA, all serving the Hagerstown MD/Chambersburg PA market.

Why would the number 1 station in that area be sold to Peter and John. Big, big station ends. Fascinating.
