SummitMedia flipped Adult R&B “103.9 The Groove” WRKA Louisville to Classic Country “Kentucky Straight 103.9” this morning.
Taking its name from Kentucky’s bourbon production and positioning as “90s & 2000s Country”, the new format creates a flanker to sister Country “Q103.1” WQNU against iHeartMedia’s 97.5 WAMZ. WRKA previously featured a Classic Country format as “Country Legends 103.9” and “103.9 The Hawk” from 2008 until 2018.
The now departed Adult R&B format featured an all-syndicated lineup including Reach Media’s Rickey Smiley Morning Show and DL Hughley in afternoons along with ABC Audio’s Deja Vu Show in middays. WRKA had a 1.7 share in the May 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings.
