Now positioning as “Everything Rock & Alternative”, the station is still gold oriented with its playlist focusing mostly on music from the 1990s and 2000s. The Woody & Wilcox morning show based at sister “106.5 The End” WEND Charlotte will continue in mornings with Aly Young in middays, recently appointed Program Director E White in afternoons, and Battle at night.

The 3pm hour on Wednesday, July 30 featured:

  • Skid Row – I Remember You
  • Metallica – Nothing Else Matters
  • Lorde – Royals

This is a great example of hiring a young mind and letting them do what they know how to do. I was very disappointed when they let him go from his original post, but I also had it in the back of my mind, he was trained with that company, they would be stupid not to hire him back in another market. I celebrate things like this, because I’m almost 40 and we’re still being told to sit down and shut up by the radio industry whether as listeners or programmers. I can’t imagine why the younger end is eroding but that’s a whole different discussion. Congrats to E white and this new launch, I’ve done business in the Raleigh market. This is a great idea. though I will say, it’s a weird era to be in to be choosing the traditional, classic rock, versus a classic alternative leaning rock. i’m here for it though, I’m the target.

Why change the format at when you are climbing in the ratings and your only competition is at the bottom??
How many listeners like Metallica and Lorde ???
The only positive in my mind is maybe I won’t hear zeppelin , Petty, ozzy and GNR every darn hour.
I hope it works for RDU, but I feel it might not .
