After a week of stunting with all-Taylor Swift, Adams Radio Group has flipped the former Rhythmic Throwbacks “Vibe 106.1” WQTL Tallahassee FL to Classic Rock “Q106“.
The new brand becomes the only Classic Rocker in the market focusing on music from the 1970s through 1990s targeting iHeartMedia’s Rock “X101.5” WXSR. The station is positioning as “Classic Rock That Rocks” and will launch with Superadio’s “Alice’s Attic” hosted by Alice Cooper in nights.
Adams Tallahassee General Manager Steve Viehmeyer said, “Classic Rock is back in Tallahassee. For too long, this market has been without a station dedicated to the
music people still turn up loud in their cars, garages, and backyards. Q106 fills that gap.”
OM/PD Twiggins adds, “Q106 is built for this city. We’re delivering the legends, the energy, and the attitude that only Classic Rock can bring. And it starts now.”
Original Report 9/26: Adams Radio Group dropped Rhythmic Throwbacks “Vibe 106.1” WQTL Tallahassee FL and has gone all-Taylor Swift “W Q Tay L“.
Promoting to play “every era, every hit, every deep cut,” the move is timed with the upcoming release of Swift’s new album next Friday.
Operations Manager Tres ‘Twiggins’ Wiggins said, “Taylor Swift is the biggest artist in the world, and this station is built for her fans. No one else could inspire a full-time station like this. W-Q-Tay-L is all Taylor, all the time, and we are proud to bring it to Tallahassee.”
WQTL’s “Vibe” identity had fallen to a 0.4 share in the Spring 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings.
