Tillicum Foundation is shutting down one of its two stations in Astoria OR.

90.9 KCPB-FM Warrenton/Astoria will cease operations on October 1 for a period of six to twelve months. The station says, “This pause comes due to ongoing funding challenges and gaps in programming. But this isn’t the end — it’s a reset. We’re using this time to reimagine KCPB: to build a station that better reflects and serves our community. Your ideas, your voices, your needs will shape what comes next.”

KCPB-FM currently airs a mix of Public News/Talk and Classical music. Sister 91.9 KMUN Astoria/89.5 KTCB Tillamook with its broader music mix and more local News/Talk programming will continue to operate.

In its filing to the FCC, Station Manager Susan Patterson said, “KCPB will pause broadcasting operations on October 1, 2025 due to the loss of federal funding, which has temporarily impacted the station’s ability to continue programming. We are actively working to secure alternative programming sources and plan to resume service as soon as it is feasible.”
