Following the move of Gospel “Praise 104.1” WPRS-FM to 92.7 WDCJ Prince Frederick MD and 95.9 W240DJ Washington DC, what is now 104.1 WDCJ is currently running an unbranded Spanish CHR playlist.
All signs point to the station becoming “Latino 104.1” as that’s what the attached logo and website display as does its RDS display. At this point all imaging on the station does not utilize the brand otherwise teasing that something is coming soon.
The new format will likely be creating a direct format competitor to Audacy’s “El Zol 107.9” WLZL and Costa Media’s “Que Onnda 87.7” WDCN-LD.
Original Report 10/16: Radio One has moved Gospel “Praise 104.1” WPRS-FM Waldorf MD/Washington DC to a pair of signals.
As first indicated in our 10/12 Domain Insight, the Gospel format has relocated to 92.7 WDCJ Prince Frederick MD along with 95.9 W240DJ Washington. The move shifts the Gospel brand from the Class B 104.1 signal to the Class A rimshot on 92.7 and the in-city translator.
92.7 WDCJ had been serving as a simulcast of Adult R&B “Majic 102.3” WMMJ to better reach Washington’s eastern suburbs. 95.9 W240DJ had been rebroadcasting Black Talk 1450 WOL.
Local sources indicate 104.1 is now running Spanish language music, but there is not yet a digital presence or any announcement from the company on branding or programming.
“Praise 104.1” ranked sixteenth in the September 2025 Nielsen Audio Ratings with a 2.3 share. WMMJ and WDCJ were tenth with a 3.4 share, but behind Howard University’s 96.3 WHUR’s third ranked 6.9 share. WOL did not register in the rankings.
