The head of one group in Central Nebraska is acquiring another as NRG Media has agreed to sell its five stations in Grand Island/Hastings/Kearny to Alan Usher’s Usher Media for $3.75 million.
Usher will acquire Classic Rock “Rock 101.5” KROR Hastings, Country “Y102” 102.3 KRNY Kearney, CHR “Hits 106” 105.9 KQKY Kearney, Classic Hits “107.7 The Island” KSYZ-FM Grand Island, and News/Talk 1340 KGFW/96.1 K241CN Kearney.
The buyer is led by GI Family Radio CEO Alan Usher. GI Family Radio owns a competing eight station cluster in the region based in Grand Island. Usher and his wife Joanna own 32% equity in the company. As part of the acquisition they will divest their shares in GI Family Radio.

NRG Media will still retain 30+ stations in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin including clusters in Lincoln and Omaha NE.
