Connoisseur Media has resurrected Alternative “103.3 The App” in San Antonio on 103.3 K277CX Terrell Wells/94.1 KTFM-HD2 Floresville.
The brand was previously heard on K277CX and KTFM-HD2 from February 2015 to April 2017. Since then the signal has gone from Classic Hip Hop to Hip Hop to Sports to Tejano and back to Sports as the move marks the second format change on the translator this year. It began the year simulcasting “Tejano 95.7” KLEY-FM Jourdanton until it flipped on February 20 to rebroadcasting Sports “ESPN 1250” KZDC San Antonio.
DJ Mighty Iris, who was part of the airstaff on the original incarnation of the brand, and has since tracked for multiple Alpha/Connoisseur stations across the country, will host afternoons from 3-7pm. She is currently also heard in middays on Rock 93.7 KCLB Palm Springs and “102.9 The Rattler” KVWE Amarillo and nights on AAA 101.9 KINK Portland. She stated, “I’m honestly still in shock and honored that I will soon be able to return to the S.A. airwaves and be part of someone’s drive home. We all love this station because it’s different. Alternative music has so many sounds and offshoots, it doesn’t fit into one box. You can hear anything from The Strokes to The Clash to R.E.M. Alternative music is timeless, and I’m beyond excited to reunite with 103.3 The APP!”
Cluster Operations Manager and App PD Greg Martin said, “San Antonio has always been a rock town, but there has been a void in this city for this body of music. 103.3 The APP was received with great praise when it debuted nearly a decade ago, and the excitement is absolutely here again for this second run.”
Connoisseur VP/Programming Keith Dakin added, “With the launch of 101.5 The Fridge in Dayton, the reimaging of 106.3 The Core in Saginaw, our heritage ALT properties in Columbia and Louisville, and now 103.3 The APP in San Antonio, Connoisseur Media is making a strong commitment to the health and future of alternative music. With an unbelievable catalog of songs plus the excitement around current artists like Tame Impala, Sombr, Turnstile, and Royal Otis, it is a great time to be in the alt business.”
