More On SBS’ Launch Of Caracol Radio America In Miami

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
January 15, 2026

Caracol Radio America 106.3 WRAZ WCMQ-HD2 MiamiFollowing Tuesday’s launch of “Caracol América 106.3” WRAZ-FM Leisure City/W292GE Miami/WCMQ-HD2 Hialeah FL, Spanish Broadcasting System and Prisa Media have unveiled further details of their new partnership.

The two companies will be partnering to grown the “Caracol América” brand nationally with additional major market FM launches and national digital distribution with “a slate of new audio stations and live and on-demand streaming content and networks, including an award-winning roster of syndicated talent, targeting the growing $4 Trillion U.S. Hispanic market.”

Prisa Media America CEO Felipe Cabrales said, “This compelling partnership pairs Prisa’s global Spanish-language leadership with SBS’s preeminence in U.S. Hispanic audio. Together, our companies will accelerate content innovation, deepen advertiser solutions, and expand the digital distribution of the world’s most dynamic Spanish-language content.”

SBS Chairman Raúl Alarcón said, “In order to succeed in today’s world of competitive media, a winning alliance requires the participation of partners with the expertise to efficiently showcase an unending flow of “unskippable” content that will captivate audiences and marketers alike. This consortium fills that requirement – and SBS enthusiastically looks forward to joining forces with Prisa, a global powerhouse in audio, and Caracol, Colombia’s premier radio network, in forging a bold and transformative media platform in the United States – and beyond.”

Prisa Media Vice Chairwoman/CEO added, ““PRISA and SBS share a historical radio legacy as well as an unwavering commitment to the future of audio/digital entertainment for an audience of over 600 million people that make Spanish the second-most-spoken language on Earth. The partners are thus uniquely positioned to capitalize on this unprecedented growth opportunity – which can only increase over time in lockstep with the proliferation of Hispanic audiences throughout America and, indeed, the world.”

Original Report 1/13: Prisa Media has returned its Colombian based “Caracol Radio” to the United States as it partners with Spanish Broadcasting System to launch “Caracol América 106.3” WRAZ-FM Leisure City/W292GE Miami/WCMQ-HD2 Hialeah.

The new brand is described as a “a new source of news in Spanish, combining programming originating in Colombia and the United States, connecting with a growing Hispanic audience that over-indexes in digital and multi-platform consumption.” The move is part of an international restructuring of the “Caracol” brand that in Colombia will see it merge with co-owned “W Radio“.

The move also marks a return of the Caracol brand to Miami as it was utilized on 1260 WSUA from 2003 until 2021 with Grupo PRISA owning a 25% stake and operating the station during that time. The station shifted in a Conservative direction and rebranded as “America Radio” in 2021.

WRAZ-FM/W292GE/WCMQ-HD2 had most recently been operated by SBS as “Salsa 106.3“.
