Civic Media is revamping its Liberal News/Talk lineup at its stations across Wisconsin to feature more national programming.
The new lineup will feature a new regional morning show “Daybreak with Brian and Jamie” featuring Jamie Martinson and Brian Noonan from 6-9am succeeding Pat Kreitlow on most of the network. WAUK Milwaukee will continue to feature its “All News All Morning” it launched last fall. The syndicated Stephanie Miller Show will now air across the network from 9-11am with WMDX Madison airing the first hour at 8. The syndicated Thom Hartmann Show will continue to air from 11am-2pm across the Civic News/Talk network. The Jeff Santos Show, heard on 980 WCAP Lowell MA and 1050 KCAA Riverside CA, will be added live in afternoons from 2-5pm. The evening lineup will continue to feature “Nite Lite” with Pete Schwaba and Greg Bach from 5-7pm, “The Rick Smith Show” from 7-8pm, and “Native Roots Radio” from 8-9pm.
John Peterson and Gordy Young, who had been hosting afternoons across the network after previously being heard in mornings on WMDX Madison have exited. Young wrote, “Radio is a tough biz these days, an understatement to be sure, but that’s actually always been the case. This wasn’t our 1st radio rodeo, obviously. For two old dudes who had gone our separate ways decades ago, this was quite an experience that was as unexpected as it was wonderful and damn fun. Kinda magical really. The John & Gordy Show was able to build a very loyal statewide following that really took off to the next level after we moved to afternoons about 3 months ago. Even so, that wasn’t quite enough for the folks that have hard choices to make in the executive circle. That’s show biz…and sometimes the biz part really sucks. We get it.”
Civic says the new Talk lineup will air on just four of its markets: 1580 WMDX Columbus/92.7 W224EG Madison, 540 WAUK Jackson/100.3 W262CJ Milwaukee/101.1 W266DR Waukesha, 1100 WISS Berlin/98.3 W252DR Oshkosh and simulcaster 1520 WZBU/96.5 W243ER New Holstein/Appleton, and 1230 WXCO/98.9 W255DN Wausau. The company does not indicate its plans for its other Talkers including 1450 WRCE/107.7 W299CD Richland Center, 910 WBZH/96.9 W245CT Hayward, 1490 WLCX La Crosse, and “93.5 The Tap” W228EPWCFW-HD2 Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire,
A few other non-talk personalities also departed the company earlier this month. Mark Lundeen has departed as General Manager and morning host at Country “Musky 101” WHSM Hayward. Kevin Kellogg departed as Saturday evening host on Variety Hits “99.7 Max-FM” 740 WRPQ Baraboo.
Civic Media Vice President of Product Aaron Carreno said, “We’re excited to refresh our programming with the addition of new radio shows and a continuous stream of digital content that meets audiences wherever they are.
