A little over a year after flipping AC “98.3 The Coast” WCXT Hartford/Benton Harbor MI to Alternative “Live 98.3” as part of a multi-station format shuffle, Mid-Wet Family Broadcasting will relaunch the brand on Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00am.
The new incarnation of “98.3 The Coast” will be dedicated to “celebrating lake life, wine culture, and modern hits.” Core artists will include Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Goo Goo Dolls, Weezer, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran.
To be overseen by “99.9 Y Country” WYTZ afternoon host Jonny Reinhardt, the station will retain Premiere Networks’ Brooke & Jeffrey in mornings and intends to add local personalities over time. Reinhardt told sister WSJM, “We’re calling it Modern Hits. Really, it’s a lot of music that you can listen to while you’re driving in the car, maybe you’re hanging out at a winery or a coffee house. You’re going to know every single song, and you’re going to want to sing along to it.” He added, “I think this is a perfect station for the female audience, the moms, the around 35 to 40 year old women that love hanging out in Southwest Michigan, having great times with their friends and family. It’s just a good feel and vibe of what it’s like to live here in Southwest Michigan.”
WCXT simulcaster 96.1 W241AD South Bend IN has already reverted to rebroadcasting Sports 960 WSBT South Bend just like it did prior to March 2025.
