Two public radio operators in the the Catskills of New York have announced plans to combine.

“Radio Catskill” 90.5 WJFF Jeffersonville, which covers the areas south of the mountains, will combine with WIOX Community Radio’s 91.3 WIOX Roxbury, which serves the northern side of the mountains.

The deal would see Radio Catskill acquire the assets of WIOX to merge into a single entity. Board of Trustees President Pete Madden said, “By bringing WIOX into the Radio Catskill family, we are strengthening local, independent broadcasting, expanding the reach and impact of our journalism, and ensuring that diverse voices and high-quality programming continue to thrive in our community.”
