Barry Wood’s KRGO LLC flipped the former Sports “SLC Sports Radio“ KMRI West Valley City/Salt Lake City to Oldies on Wednesday, April 1.
The new “Oldies 1550” KOSL launched at 12pm on Wednesday with Bill Haley and The Comets’ “Rock Around The Clock”. The station will feature music from the 1950s through 70s under the management of Albuquerque group owner Don Davis and programmed by KM Richards, who also programs Davis’ 1980s Hits “The Eighties Channel” 1100 KRKE/93.7 K229CL there.
Davis commented, “I am so pleased to be working on behalf of my good friend and FCC attorney Barry Wood to build KOSL into a successful Oldies radio station. I love the Oldies format, and to be able to join Barry and my friend and consultant K.M. Richards in this endeavor is absolutely thrilling.”
Richards said, “It’s great fun for someone who has been in radio for as long as I have to be able to program an Oldies station again. I’m having the time of my life with this project, and I’m hoping our concept resonates with Salt Lake City listeners.”
