As we reported earlier today, Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 102.3” WMMJ Bethesda MD/Washington DC has announced that Russ Parr will be returning to the station to host afternoons starting Monday, April 27.
Parr will be joined by his former team including EP/co-host Tanisha Nichole, mixer DJ Sixth Sense, Alfredas, and known characters. He stated, “It’s an honor to have another opportunity to serve the people of the DMV by coming back to Majic. I’m looking forward to re-engaging my 37 listeners.”
Urban One Audio Division Co-President Eddie Harrell Jr. said, “We are bringing Russ Parr back home where he belongs… to Majic 102.3!!! Afternoon drive in the DMV will never be the same again. His unique ability to connect with our audience is second to none and we look forward to his return!”
Operations Manager Arthur ‘A-Plus’ Willis followed, “Russ’s voice, vision and connection to the community are unmatched. We’re excited for our listeners to experience that energy every afternoon on Majic 102.3.”
Parr began his career as a actor, comedian, and musician before joining 1580 KDAY Los Angeles as morning host in the late 80s. He moved to “100.3 Jamz” KJMZ Dallas in 1989 before joining Radio One’s 93.9 WKYS Washington DC in 1996. He would enter syndication in the early 2000s and shift to WMMJ in 2015 until ending the syndicated show at the end of 2023.
Parr will supplant Reach Media’s DL Hughley Show in afternoons.
Original Report 10am: Is former Reach Media syndicated morning personality Russ Parr coming back to Radio One? A few social media teases indicate that Parr will join his former flagship station “Majic 102.3” WMMJ Bethesda MD/Washington DC as afternoon host later this month.
Instagram ads by Parr’s @RussParrWorld account tease that Parr will be rejoining WMMJ to host from 3-7pm. Posts shared by Parr on other platforms from former Parr Show producer Albert ‘SumbodyTrippin’ White simply state “April 27”.
WMMJ currently carries Reach Media’s DL Hughley Show in afternoons.
