FCC Actions
The FCC has begun the process of setting its annual regulatory fee rates with its notice of proposed rulemaking.
Most radio related fees will rise around 4-5% on average. The top fees for Class B, C, C0, C1 and C2 FMs serving over 6 million people will rise from $19,485 to $20,510. The lowest fee for Class C AMs serving under 10,000 people will rise from $340 to $360.

After agreeing earlier in April to a Consent Decree with SPB LLC’s 960 WABG Greenwood MS that included a $1000 penalty to resolve issues found following informal objections to its license renewal application in 2020, the FCC is reconsidering the agreement that gave WABG its full-term license renewal after WABG failed to upload its Q1 2026 Issues and Programs List to its online public file by a set April 10 deadline. Instead the commission is only giving WABG a one-year license renewal.
License Cancellations
Along with its sale of 1240 KXYL Brownwood and 102.3 KXYL-FM Coleman TX this week, Wendlee Broadcasting has surrendered the license of 1000 KSTA Brownwood TX.
