Six months after agreeing to acquire 102.5 KMSO Missoula and 107.9 KHDV Darby/Hamilton MT from Sheila Callahan & Friends, Todd Nixon’s Sticks Media is walking away from the deal and both stations will go silent again.
Sticks Media agreed to purchase both stations last November for $255,000 structured with a $100 down payment, monthly installments of $4000 for 36 months, and 25% of the monthly gross sales until the combined payments reach the total. The two stations had first went silent at the end of 2024 following the retirement of the owners. Nixon relaunched KMSO as Hot AC “102.5 Mountain-FM” on December 10 with KHDV becoming Classic Hits “Rocket 108” on December 26 after stunting with Christmas music.
Nixon shared on Facebook, “Tough update… we’re winding down operations in Missoula. We simply ran out of runway. Our team worked incredibly hard to rebuild the stations, and I’m proud of what we created in a short amount of time. I believed we could swing big and turn it, I was just wrong on the timing. I’m grateful to everyone who believed in us, our team, our listeners, and our partners. That support meant everything. As hard as this is, I still believe in local radio and what it can be. I’ll take what I’ve learned here and put it into building something smarter, leaner, and built to last. Onward.”
