Usher Media Group CHR “Hits 106” KQKY Kearney NE Operations Manager and morning co-host/afternoon host Mark ‘Reido’ Reid retired today ending a 41 year run with the station.
A native of Perth, Australia, Reid has spent his entire career in the Grand Island/Hastings/Kearney market starting in 1985 as a board op at 1340 KGFW. He would then move over to their sister station KQKY spending time in every daypart including 29 years in middays as well as time as MD and PD. He also spent 20 years as a weekend weathercaster for KHGI-TV in the market.
New cluster owner Alan Usher told CentralNebraskaNews.com, “Mark is a household name in all Central Nebraska. His dedication to listeners and viewers throughout central Nebraska is unmatched. His true passion for helping people everyday shines through in every broadcast that he’s done in the last 41 years. I’m proud to have known and been able to get to know such a special individual.”
New cluster Operations Manager Tyler Cavalli, who joined the company after previously serving as OM for Nebraska Rural Radio Association’s cluster in the market said, “Mark has been a staple in central Nebraska and a voice that generations of listeners have become accustomed to. It’s rare for anyone to work in one spot for 41 years. That says a lot about Mark, the kind of person he is, and the dedication he’s poured out for the stations. There won’t be another Mark and he’ll be missed on the airwaves.”
