As Radio One prepares to close on its $22 million purchase of Hip Hop “K104” 104.5 KKDA-FM Dallas and Adult R&B “105.7 Smooth R&B” KRNB Decatur from Service Broadcasting and subsequent $6 million divestiture of Adult R&B “Majic 94.5” KZMJ Gainesville to Encouragement Media Group’s Fuzion Dallas LLC, the company will begin reshaping its Dallas/Fort Worth cluster on Monday, July 6.
The Rickey Smiley Morning Show will shift from KZMJ to Hip Hop “97.9 The Beat” KBFB Dallas starting on Monday. Smiley’s show originally launched on KBFB in 2004 and would enter syndication in 2008. He would depart the station in 2017 when it debuted a new local morning show, but returned to Dallas on KZMJ in 2019 when Smiley succeeded Tom Joyner on Radio One’s Adult R&B stations.
Monday will also be the final day for KZMJ ahead of its upcoming shift to Spanish Christian “Fuzion“. Program Director/middays host ‘Queen Indy Bee’ posted that the format will continue writing, “This is not goodbye, it’s see ya later! Our team is so amazing!
