Updated: Following the $2 million sale of the license of 94.5 KBAY Gilroy/San Jose CA to K-Love Inc. last week, Connoisseur Media has begun promoting the move of Classic Rock “98.5 K-FOX” KUFX San Jose to a pair of HD subchannels and the “Bay Country 94.5” programming moving to 98.5.
Starting Wednesday, July 22 at 12pm, the Classic Rock programming will be heard on 98.5 KUFX-HD2 and 99.7 KMVQ-HD3 San Francisco while KBAY takes over on the primary 98.5 signal.
In its base San Jose market, KUFX currently held a 5.3 share in the June 2026 Nielsen Audio ratings. It also had a 1.9 share in San Francisco. In both markets, the station competes with Cumulus Media’s “107.7 The Bone” KSAN San Mateo.
KBAY, which simulcasts on 92.1 KKDV Walnut Creek in the East Bay, dropped from a 4.2 to 3.4 last month in San Jose while registering a 1.4 share in San Francisco.
INSTANT INSIGHT: Is another Bay Area operator planning to go Country in the market, which may have adjusted the timeframe for this switch?
