Changes appear to be on the way to iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Lonestar 92.5” KZPS as the station is teasing a “Blockbuster Move”.
The station is promoting “A blockbuster move is in the works. The rumors are real. The buzz is building. And everything is about to change. Stay tuned… details coming soon.” This follows teases earlier this month from sister Rock “97.1 The Eagle” KEGL afternoon hosts Ben Rogers & Jeff ‘Skin’ Wade teasing big news for their show.
INSTANT INSIGHT: KZPS has had a morning show vacancy since Anna De Haro and Alan Ayo exited in April. Both stations have been struggling with KZPS down to a 2.7 share in the June 2026 Nielsen Audio ratings and KEGL at 1.5 share.
A move of Ben & Skin to KZPS would likely indicate yet another demise of the Rock brand at KEGL. For quite awhile there has been speculation of iHeart launching a competitor to Cumulus Media’s Country duo of “New Country 96.3” KSCS and “99.5 The Wolf” KPLX. However, with Radio One’s purchase of Service Broadcasting’s crosstown stations, there has been a lot of chatter than if one of the two Hip Hop brands “97.9 The Beat” KBFB or “K104” KKDA-FM were to move away that would open the door for iHeart to bring Premiere Networks’ “The Breakfast Club” to the market to anchor a new Hip Hop brand.
Big news coming soon. Wonder what it is. Wrong answers only. pic.twitter.com/IpCdSCOADb
