Cumulus Media Classic Rock “97 WLAV” Grand Rapids MI morning host Michelle McKormick has announced she will be exiting the station on Friday, August 28 as part of the company’s layoffs.
McCormick has spent the majority of her career in her native Grand Rapids since starting her career in 1984 and has been part of the morning show at WLAV since 2011. She has also spent time at the market at stations including 97.9 WGRD, 1300 WOOD, and 1340 WJRW along with five years at Hot Talk “FM Talk 97.1” WKRK-FM Detroit and time at “New Jersey 101.5” WKXW Trenton NJ.
She told listeners on Monday, “About two weeks ago our company had to make some changes and they had to eliminate some jobs. Mine was one of them that was eliminated. I’m going to be here for two more weeks.”
