Cumulus Media’s 930 WKY Oklahoma City has dropped its simulcast of “98.1 The Sports Animal” WWLS-FM The Village and is now carrying the national programming from Westwood One Sports Network.
WKY will also continue to carry Spanish language broadcasts of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. The station and sisters WWLS-FM and “ESPN 640” KWPN Moore will also split Westwood One’s national play-by-play of the NFL, college football, baseball and basketball plus ESPN’s NFL and NBA broadcasts. The Westwood One play-by-play moves back to the cluster from Tyler Media’s “107.7 The Franchise” KRXO-FM.
WWLS/KWPN/WKY Program Director Robert ‘Cisco’ Mueller said, “This is an exciting new chapter for sports radio in Oklahoma City. Whether it’s the OKC Thunder and the NBA, the NFL, College Football and College Basketball, and the biggest championship events in sports, fans will now have more ways than ever to stay connected to the games they love. Our goal has always been to provide Oklahoma sports fans with the biggest games, the biggest personalities and the best sports coverage available. Adding the NFL, Championship College Football, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, the NBA Finals and many of the biggest events in sports further strengthens our position as Oklahoma’s premier sports audio destination.”
The daily Westwood One Sports Network talk programming is also heard in the market on Perry Media Group’s “OKC Sports 105.3” KINB Kingfisher.
