A round of layoffs took place today at Connoisseur Media.

In announcing his departure, Classic Hits “105.9 The Beach” KTLB Fort Dodge IA morning host Jeff Jones noted that 67 people were affected across the company. Jones has hosted mornings at KTLB since September 2023 after previously holding roles at the cluster in 2015-16. He has also held roles including PD/afternoon host at KKIA Storm Lake IA from 2016-23 and General Manager of KQWC Webster City IA.

One of the first and bigger names to go public after being affected by the cuts is Chicago morning legend Eddie Volkman.

Best known for his stints co-hosting mornings at CHR “B96” WBBM-FM from 1986-1994 and 1997-2008, Volkman spent the past decade at various stations in the now Connoisseur Media cluster including Classic Rock “103.9 The Fox” WFXF Dundee, Hot AC “Star 105.5” WZSR Woodstock and “Star 96.7” WSSR Joliet, and since its launch in March, Classic Hits “The 9-6-7” WSSR. Volkman has also worked in Chicago at Classic Hits “104.3 K-Hits” WJMK and 94.7 WLS-FM as well as CHR “Q102” WIOQ Philadelphia between his two stints at WBBM-FM.

Volkman shared, “Hey, anyone who might’ve currently been listening to me on The967, today was my last day with the company, and I am another unfortunate casualty of the radio industry. Luckily, I really wasn’t doing it for the money, but rather for my love of the radio and the business! Don’t know what lies ahead, but thanks for all the love and I’m gonna turn off my 3 AM alarm for a little bit!”
