After being cut from Cumulus Media Sports 680 KNBR/104.5 KNBR-FM San Francisco last month while recovering from lukemia, Greg Papa has returned to the station to co-host a daily “Lunch with Papa” in the 12pm hour.
Papa will join his former co-host and midday show successor John Lund for the 12pm hour of Lund’s 10am to 2pm show. Lund rejoined KNBR last month following the cut of Papa and co-host Greg Silver from the midday show. He originally worked at the station from 2016 to 2024 and was paired with Papa from 2019 until his exit after the duo previously worked together in afternoons at “95.7 The Game” KGMZ.
Papa will also make twice weekly “Niners Updates With Greg Papa” during KNBR’s morning and afternoon shows. He originally joined KNBR to co-host middays and serve as play-by-play voice of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers after previously holding play-by-play roles for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs, MLB’s Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, and NFL’s Oakland Raiders.
He commented, “I’m thrilled to be back on The Sports Leader and even more thrilled to be working with my good friend John Lund again. Let’s do this!”
Cumulus San Francisco/Los Angeles RVP/Market Manager Larry Blumhagen said “Greg Papa is a Bay Area icon in sports broadcasting. His name and voice are synonymous with sports in this market. That connection is even stronger when speaking about the San Francisco 49ers. We are excited to have Greg back on air sharing his insights about all things Niners, and more!”
