Weeks after their acquisition of Cumulus Media’s Melbourne FL cluster, MARC Media is continuing its rapid growth in Central Florida with the purchase of WGUL-FM Inc., which operates as Nature Coast Radio and its five stations along the western side of the state between Tampa and Gainesville for $2.5 million.

Included in the deal are: Hot AC “Citrus 95.3” WXCV Homosassa Springs, Classic Hits “96.7 The Fox” WXOF Yankeetown, Country “Z103.3/104.3” WXCZ Cedar Key/WXZC Inglis, and Oldies “Greatest Hits 106.3” WGHR Spring Hill. The deal is structured with a $500,000 deposit, $500,00 at closing, and $1.5 million in a promissory note to be paid over ten years.

The deal will require a waiver from the FCC’s ownership caps as WXOF and WXCZ/WXZC are defined by BIA as part of the Gainesville market where the company already has a full cluster. WXCV and WGHR are defined as part of the Tampa market.

In the past year, in addition to Cumulus Melbourne, MARC Media has acquired Treasure Coast Radio’s five stations in Vero Beach FL and the majority of Hall Communications’ cluster in Lakeland. MARC also has stand-alone Christian AMs in Orlando and Dallas TX.
