Nathan Stubblefield Foundation Community 88.5 WMNF Tampa has appointed Alex Worthey as General Manager.

Worthey joins WMNF from Jazz 90.7 WNCU Durham NC where he was Program Director. He has also programmed WUCF Orlando and oversaw digital content for WEDU-TV Tampa.

He commented, “I’m honored to return to Tampa Bay and have the opportunity to lead WMNF. WMNF has built an extraordinary legacy of connecting people through music, information and community service. My first priority will be to listen to our staff, volunteers, listeners, supporters and community partners, and work together to build upon that foundation while positioning the station for its next chapter. As I look ahead, my vision is to build upon WMNF’s strong foundation while exploring opportunities to expand our local news and public affairs coverage, strengthen our community partnerships, elevate our diverse music and cultural programming, and broaden our reach through digital platforms and multimedia storytelling that will introduce WMNF to the next generation of audiences.”

Board President Austin E. Craven said, “Ms. Zimmerman has been WMNF’s rock over the last five years, leading us through the end of COVID, political uncertainty, and massive state and federal funding losses. Our position would likely not be as strong as it is today without her expertise at the helm. Mr. Worthey stands poised to build on that stability. I am confident that his infectious energy and attitude, along with fresh ideas and perspective, will catapult WMNF into the future, and I look forward to working with him for years to come.”
