Update 1/1: The affiliation move took place as planned today. With the change 102.3 KDSP drops its “Ticket” moniker for “102.3 ESPN“.

Original Report 12/6: Back in March, Front Range Sports Network announced it would acquire the Denver market ESPN affiliation for “102.3 The Ticket” KDSP from Lincoln Financial Media’s “104.3 The Fan” KKFN and “ESPN 1600” KEPN in 2012. We know know the changes will take effect on Monday, January 2 and the lineups each station will take on that day.

The originally announced plan was for the national ESPN feed to replace Variety Hits “105.5 Jack-FM” KJAC while 102.3 continued with local hosts. Financial considerations led to the change in plans.

Mark Schlereth, the former Denver Bronco who also works for ESPN TV had to leave the station due to the loss of affiliation. The Denver Post reports that he may soon gain a national show on ESPN Radio.

The biggest change will be at 1600 KEPN, which had carried the national ESPN feed and Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick Show. The station will be rebranded as “1600 The Zone“. It’s lineup will feature the national Fox Sports Radio feed along with Jim Rome moving over from KKFN and Yahoo! Sports Radio’s “Rivals Radio” from 8-11pm
