Streetz 94.5 Atlanta Debuts

Streetz 94.5 W233BF Atlanta Extreme Media Steve Hedgwood Keenan Heard94.5 W233BF Social Circle, GA has completed its move-in to Atlanta and has launched as Urban “Streetz 94.5“.

Update 6/24: On the same day that Streetz 94.5 debuted, Radio-One quickly claimed the domain to point listeners back to their “Hot 107.9” WHTA.

We can confirm that Hedgwood is the driving force behind this new HD/translator pairing, using the operating name of Core Communications.

Original Report 6/22: As you may recall, the “Streetz” format previously appeared at 102.9 W275BK for a few days in April 2009. Extreme Media Group head Steve Hedgwood and his nephew Keenan Heard bought that translator without the knowledge of Radio-One, where Hedgwood was Operations Manager. “Streetz 102.9” debuted a few weeks after Hedgwood resigned using elements that were taken from Radio-One. Following the settlement, 102.9 was transferred to Radio-One where it now simulcasts Urban AC “Majic 107.5” WAMJ.

We don’t know yet if Hedgwood and Heard are behind the new incarnation of Streetz, but we can tell you that the translator is being fed by an HD subchannel of Lincoln Financial Media’s 94.1 WSTR. The translator recently gained approval to upgrade to a directional 250 watts from downtown Atlanta.
