Knoxville, TN – South Central Media has flipped….formats, that is!!! 95.7 – Jack-FM is now 95.7 Power FM! 95.7 Power FM hit the airways today (8/13/12) and is playing contemporary music for the 21st Century! You’ll hear the best of pop, urban, alternative, hip-hop, and rock music – all delivered with an upbeat attitude. Power FM is a high-impact format, playing Maximum Hits with no annoying DJ chatter…more maximum hits, less talk…so turn the Power on and join the young or young-at-heart with the freshest radio station to energize the Greater Knoxville Area since Edison invented the light bulb! You’ll hear artists like Katy Perry, Lady Ga Ga, Maroon 5, One Direction, Pink and Usher – just to name a few!
South Central Media – Knoxville also owns radio properties: B-97.5, 103.5 WIMZ and operates 94.3 the X. “We’re all very excited to be adding 95.7 POWER FM to our cluster of stations. POWER FM will be an exciting addition to the Knoxville market and we think listeners will enjoy the contemporary music without a lot of interruptions.” – said general manager, Terry Gillingham. The new station will give advertisers a more balanced selection, and radio listeners more choice for music – especially in the morning. The station will be programmed by radio veteran, Randy Chambers.
We hope East Tennessee will POWER UP with 95.7 POWER FM!
Sounds straight out of the 80s
Obviously Terry Gillingham thinks the only important demographics are prepubescent teens with this new format. He has lost every former listener that enjoyed jackfm. Plus why does he mention the fact that listeners will enjoy not having to listen to a DJ: “no annoying DJ chatter”? Jack didn’t have a DJ so that is a non-argument. Bottom line is Knoxville has lost another good radio format and gained nothing but crap!
