Classical “W-Bach” will once again be audible in Portland, ME starting Monday, April 15.
Following the breakup of Nassau Broadcasting last Summer, what was once a trimulcast serving much of coastal Maine was left with just 106.9 WBQX Thomaston, ME serving the area northeast of Portland. The former WBQW Kennebunkport shifted to CHR “Hot 104.7” WHTP, and 107.7 WBQI Bar Harbor became part of a Classic Hits trimulcast as WBKA.
Now WBIN Media will break 96.9 W245AA Portland off of its simulcast of Country “99.9 The Wolf” WTHT Auburn/99.3 WBQQ Kennebunk to a simulcast of WBQX via WTHT-HD2. The 250 watt translator will give the Classical programming city grade coverage of all of Portland proper.

Maine’s iconic WBACH is set to return to the Portland airwaves on Monday, April 15 on the 96.9 FM frequency. The signal which has rebroadcast the Country format of 99.9 The Wolf for the past 9 years will return the popular Breakfast With Bach Morning Show with Scott Hooper, announcers Don Spencer, Larry King, and long standing weekend programming including the Kid’s Classical Hour, Saturday Night Classic Jazz, and the Paul Parent Garden Show to the greater Portland area.
The signal covers the greater Portland region including Biddeford, Saco, Scarborough, Westbrook, and Falmouth. In addition, WBACH will also be heard in high definition all throughout Southern and Central Maine on the 50,000 watt HD2 channel of the 99.9 frequency for listeners with HD radios. WBACH is currently heard on the 106.9 frequency covering all of the Mid Coast and Central Maine from Brunswick through Ellsworth.
An extensive marketing campaign will launch April 15th on WCSH 6 announcing the return of the popular format to the Portland region.
