3G Broadcasting has closed on its $800,000 purchase of AC “Variety 99.3” WJZS Block Island and Talk 1540 WADK Newport, RI from Astro Tele-Communications Corp.
With the ownership change, 99.3 has flipped to CHR as “Mixx 99.3” with new WMNP calls in place. Matt Girard moves from sister WOCY Carrabelle, FL as Program Director.
On its Facebook page, the station defines itself as:

3G Broadcasting also owns Classic Hits “100.5 The Oyster” WOYS Apalachicola and CHR “Hitz 106” WOCY Carrabelle, FL.
It appears that even though the Facebook page is up and displaying this information, the station has not flipped yet. I am listening over air right now and it just IDed with its usual female voiceover saying “Variety 99.3”. Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae was just played into Sara Bareilles’ Love Song. I checked the stream of Cumulus Media Network’s Hot AC format and they also just played those two songs. Perhaps the change to “Mixx 99.3” is coming in the next week or two.
