As Semisonic’s “Closing Time” concluded at 12pm, iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel) flipped Alternative “X106.7” WCGX Dublin, OH/Columbus to Urban “106.7 The Beat“.
The move concedes the Alternative audience in Columbus to “CD102.5” WWCD and places the station in competition with Radio-One’s “Power 107.5” WCKX. In the August 2014 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings, WCGX’ 2.2 share was just a shade behind WWCD’s 2.3. WCKX was fifth overall in the market with a 5.3.
New WZCB call letters have been applied for. The syndicated Breakfast Club will air in mornings. iHeartMedia intends to hire a local APD/Afternoon host and night host for the station.
