Q94 and Classic Rock Return To Altoona

Q94 94.3 WBXQ Altoona True CountrySherlock Broadcasting dropped its Country “True Country 94.3” format on WBXQ Patton/Altoona, PA yesterday and returned the heritage Classic Rock “Q94” format to the market.

The “Q94” identity had a long run in the market with Classic Rock through the 90’s and early 2000s on 94.7 WBXQ and later simulcasting on 94.3 WBRX. The two stations swapped call letters when 94.7 flipped to AC “Mix 94.7” in 2007. WBXQ then flipped to its now former Country format in 2009.

The Altoona market has been without a dedicated Classic Rock station. Forever Media Rock “Rocky 104.9” WRKY-FM Hollidaysburg had the Rock market to itself.
