RadioInsight - Daily Domains 11/27: The Alt Squatters Come Out En Masse

[membership level="2,3"] Following Entercom's launch of " Alt " branded stations in New York and Dallas and iHeartMedia's launch of " Alt 106.7 " in Detroit, new registrations for domains with the brand have been popping up everywhere. iHeartMedia has registered Alt1011Orlando.com . Just like last week's registration of Alt1043.com the domain is for an HD subchannel of Rock 101.1 WJRR . WJRR-HD3 has been running an Alternative format with that branding since September 2016. Alt955.com was registered anonymously last Tuesday. With a Twitter account trying to tease a flip at iHeart Country " Big 95.5 " WEBG Chicago, we find no reason to believe the domain is associated directly with that station despite the station's low ratings. Another squatter seems to believe that iHeart will be flipping Rock " 101.3 The Brew " WBFX Grand Rapids MI as Alt1013.com , Alt1013GR.com , Alt1013Michigan.com , and Alt1013WestMichigan.com were registered. Another anonymous registration was made for Alt1057FM.com . The domain is pointing to the iHeartMedia corporate site as a decoy, just like Alt1037.com was prior to the Entercom flip of KVIL Dallas. Following the flips in Dallas and New York, Alt923FM.com , Alt923NYC.com , Alt1037FM.com , and Alt1037DFW.com were all registered by the same person and all five currently point to a YouTube video of the Barney & Friends theme song. While all are currently listed as anonymous registrations at one point they were show as registered by a cast member of the syndicated Woody Show based at iHeartMedia's " Alt 98.7 " KYSR Los Angeles. Townsquare Media has registered Nick975.com . The development site teases a new Classic Hits format for 97.5 W248BO Tuscaloosa AL, which currently rebroadcasts AAA " Birmingham Mountain Radio " via SummitMedia's 105.1 WALJ-HD2 Northport. iHeartMedia has also registered TheBear929.com .
