Domain Insight 6/20: Are Changes Coming In Tampa?

[membership level="2,3"] iHeartMedia is getting active on the domain registration front as the Spring book comes to an end. iHeart has registered generic TheBeatTampa.com and TheBeatTampaBay.com for Hip Hop " 95.7 The Beat " WBTP. Is this the first move in preparation of a frequency shift for the station? Rumors have been circling recently about News/Talk 970 WFLA gaining the full-powered FM signal as WBTP is currently in 20th place in the market with a 1.3 share . WFLA is currently thirteenth with a 3.4 share, but adding an FM signal now could also lead to additional revenue in a critical swing-state ahead of the Presidential election. WFLA is currently also heard on two translators in the market: EMF owned 94.5 W233AV Gulfport/St. Petersburg and iHeart's 99.1 W256CT Bayonet Point/New Port Richey. Those translators, both fed by 97.9 WXTB-HD2, could become the new home of the Beat. But iHeart has also registered Throwback991.com this week. While that could be of use for the aforementioned W256CT, translators in Cleveland and St. Lake City also appear possible for the brand. Also in Cleveland, a Spanish brand appears coming to Rubber City Radio Group's 107.3 WNWV-HD2 Elyria as EsMiRumba.com teases the launch of " Rumba 107.3 " in the market. Rumba, though is trademarked by iHeartMedia so a C&D is possible upon launch. Advanced Media Partners is preparing to launch of fourth brand in Peoria. The company has registered TayRadioPeoria.com for a Taylor Swift focused format or stunt ahead of launch. The station will be heard on rimshot 96.5 WHPI Farmington and 104.3 W282BS Dunlap. Both signals are currently simulcasting CHR " 98.5 Kiss-FM " WPIA Eureka. [/membership]
