Original Report 8/16: Rogers Communications has announced that Classic Hits “104.9 Fun-FM” CFUN Vancouver, BC will drop its format on Wednesday, August 17 at 8:30am
The station is directing listeners to sister Variety Hits “96.9 Jack-FM” CKLG, which will integrate some of CFUN’s playlist into its own.
We do know the new station will be named “Sonic“. We had tweeted earlier that Sonic1049.com, Sonic105.com, and SonicHitsNow.com were registered by Rogers in early May. These seem to indicate either CHR or Alternative like sister “Sonic 102.9” CHDI Edmonton.
CFUN is a trio of signals. The originating station broadcasts on 107.5 in Chilliwack, BC with boosters CFUN-1 on 92.5 in Abbotsford, BC and CFUN-2 on 104.9 in Vancouver.
