Original Report 9/19: Vista Broadcasting has pulled the plug on Variety Hits “105.1 Ed-FM” CJED Niagara Falls. The station is currently stunting with Christmas Music and promoting its “Gift For Niagara” to be opened on Friday, September 20 at 12:00pm.
CJED was one of two Variety Hits stations in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls market along with Townsquare Media’s “92.9 Jack-FM” WBUF. It only appears in the ratings on the Canadian side of the border where it registered a a 1.6 share in the St. Catharines/Niagara Spring 2013 BBM Ratings.
Northeast Radio Watch’s Scott Fybush somehow noted that the greyed out logo on ED’s website seemed to spell out 2DayFM. Sure enough 2DayFM.ca and 2DayFM1051.ca were registered by Vista in July. The 2DayFM brand is big in Australia, but the only place in North America it has made an appearance is KKJK Ravenna, NE. As Vista already operates CHR “Z101.1” CFLZ Fort Erie in the Niagara Falls/Buffalo region it will be interesting to see if any changes are also forthcoming to that station.
