96X Tyler Stunts And Shifts To Classic Rock

96X Rocks Classic Rock KKTX Tyler Longview Chris Ryan JohnBoy Billy Update 6:30pm: After three hours of stunting with the song snippets, KKTX-FM relaunched at 5pm CDT as “Classic Rock 96.1“.

Most of the station’s daily lineup stays the same with John Boy & Billy in morning drive, Don Jones middays, and Chris Ryan afternoons. Weekender Bill Lee moves to nights replacing the syndicated Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx.

Original Report 4:30pm: Townsquare Media Active Rock “96X Rocks” KKTX-FM Kilgore/Tyler, TX is stunting with song snippets from a variety of formats.

With a domain registration for ClassicRock961.com made by Townsquare last month, it appears the stunt will lead to a musical shift to Classic Rock. KKTX was the lowest rated on Townsquare’s four Tyler/Longview market stations with a 4.4 share in the Spring 2013 ratings. In addition to KKTX, Townsquare owns Hot AC “Mix 93.1” KTYL, Country 101.5 KNUE, and Urban AC “Hot 107.3” KISX.
