“Classic 105.3” will make its debut on Monday with a format focusing on the 1960s through 80s. However it will do so without one half of of the JB & Sandy morning show. Sandy McIlree tweeted us that he submitted his resignation on Friday and is on the lookout for his next opportunity.

Update 3/1 5:00pm: In addition to the “The Hit” domains registered previously, Genuine Austin Radio has added AustinClassicFM.com, Classic1053.com, TheClassic1053.com, and TheClassicFM.com. Additionally all social media profiles associated with “The Fringe” and JB & Sandy’s morning show have been made private.

Sports/Classic Hits “104.9 The Horn” KTXX Bee Cave has dropped its remaining Classic Hits blocks and returned to All-Sports. KTXX added Classic Hits in middays, nights, and weekends in January 2014 after dropping its ESPN affiliation when Genuine Austin took over the station. The Horn is back up to thirteen hours of local sports talk from 6am to 7pm daily and has added NBC Sports Radio to fill the spots where it was playing music.

That has lead to a musical shift at AAA “105.3 The Fringe” K287FG Austin/KTXX-HD4 as it shifts towards Classic Hits. The Fringe launched in April 2014 as the new home of the JB & Sandy morning show following their exit from Entercom Hot AC “Mix 94.7” KAMX entering a crowded Adult Alternative field including Emmis’ 93.3 KGSR, University of Texas’ 98.9 KUTX, LPFM “Sun Radio” KDRP-LP/100.1 K261DW, and iHeartMedia’s “103.1 iHeart Austin” K276EL. Next up appears to be a rebranding to match the new musical direction as Genuine Austin partner Jason Nassour registered 1053TheHit.com for K287FG.

Genuine Austin Radio also owns Alt Country 99.3 KOKE-FM Thorndale/1490 KTAE Austin/98.5 K253AN Sunset Valley and Gospel “1260 The Word” Elgin.
