Jason ‘Budman’ Paige has departed mornings at Sun Broadcasting CHR “B103.9” WXKB Cape Coral/Fort Myers FL after a six year run.
Budman originally joined WXKB in June 2019 as producer/co-host for “The Wild Bunch” and rose to host with Marija Puidak in August 2022 following the exit of Jason ‘Big Mama’ Jones. Sun Broadcasting acquired WXKB as part of the purchase of Beasley Media Group’s cluster earlier this year.
He wrote on Facebook, “I QUIT B1039. ‘If it’s not fun, it’s not worth doing.’ And man… WE had FUN. I’ll forever be grateful for every listener who called in, every inside joke, every game we played… Every Treasure Hunt guess.. Every Drop Off Line Shout Out Time 😢 I’ll miss every laugh, and every single person who made this ride special. And WE really DID have something special…”
He continued, “But I can promise you this: I’m not disappearing. You’ll still see me out hosting karaoke, DJing, making people laugh, and doing what I’ve always loved most… having fun with all of you. Because that connection never needed a radio tower. This isn’t the end. It’s a new beginning… BIG things are coming. And yeah, change can be scary… but so are roller coasters. And those are pretty damn fun too…. And while I may not be on the radio anymore, maybe I can use this brief moment of your attention to do something that really matters — help Bruce and his family. If you know Bruce, you know the kind of person he is. He’s always been there for others, and right now, he could really use all of us behind him. So if you can help in any way, please do. Love you all!”
Prior to joining WXKB, Paige worked at KXME Honolulu, KPTY Phoenix, KWYL Reno, KTFM San Antonio, and had two stints at KSFM Sacramento first as “Budman & Booger” from 2004-2006 and then later as part of the “Wayne, Jay & Megan” morning show until exiting in 2016.
