Educational Media Foundation sells 101.5 K268AH Palm Springs CA to Marker Broadcasting for $200,000 to rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 95.9 KJJZ Indian Wells. The translator became redundant to EMF when it acquired what is now 105.1 KLXB Bermuda Dunes. EMF is also buying in multiple areas. It will pay Audion Communications $250,000 for the CP of 104.1 KRXC Murrieta/Temecula CA to join its Christian CHR “Air 1” network. Colonial Media + Entertainment has launched Rock/Sports “92-5 FBX” 1450 WFBX/92.5 W223CL Spring Lake NC. Superserving Fort Bragg, just north of Fayetteville, the launch is timed with the sign-on of WFBX’s new FM translator. Jeff Andrulonis’ Colonial Media + Entertainment has purchased three stations is purchasing Sports “ESPN Fayetteville” 1230 WFAY Fayetteville/1450 WFBX Spring Lake NC and Gospel “Rejoice 1200” WMIR Atlantic Beach/Myrtle Beach SC and four translators from subsidiaries of Astrakel International for an undisclosed price. Colonial currently owns ten stations in New York and Pennsylvania including clusters in Olean NY and Bradford PA and a standalone AM (with pending translator) in Apollo PA. WFSS Fayetteville Acquired By WUNC; Drops Jazz Programming

The University of North Carolina’s 91.5 WUNC Chapel Hill/Raleigh will see its programming expand southward into Fayetteville immediately. WUNC has announced the acquisition of Public News/Talk/Jazz 91.9 WFSS Fayetteville from Fayetteville State University for $1.35 million in cash plus $400,000 in additional underwriting and internships for FSU students. The WFSS license will be transferred to the newly created WUNC Public Radio, LLC. WFSS will immediately begin operating as a simulcast of WUNC, leading to the end of the Jazz programming that made up the bulk of the WFSS schedule from 9am to 2pm and 6:30pm to 5am weekdays.
