Redding AM Joins Ranks Going Off The Air

Michael Quinn took Adult Standards 1230 KLXR Redding CA off the air as the clock struck midnight on the New Year. The station had featured a local morning show hosted by Jim ‘Jimbo’ Albertson and Sue McLain and took pride in being one of the first stations nationally to start the trend of going All-Christmas annually starting when Quinn purchased the station in 1999. The 1kW Class C AM failed to apply for an FM translator in the 2017 filing period. Wild 99.3 Debuts In Redding

After five days of stunting with a loop of Tone Loc’s Wild Thing, Mapleton Communications has launched Rhythmic CHR “Wild 99.3” KWLZ Shasta Lake City/Redding CA. Launching jockless with the usual 10,000 songs in a row commercial-free, the new “Wild 99.3” is being programmed by Mapleton’s Regional PD Tommy Del Rio. Del Rio, based at “101.7 The Beach” KCDU Monterey, also programs the company’s CHRs in Chico and Spokane. Hella 87.7 To Bring Alternative To Chico & Redding

Classic Country “87.7 Hank-FM” KEFM-LP Chico/KNNN-LP Redding CA will flip to Alternative “Hella 87.7” on January 1 as the station shifts to new management. The stations, which had been operated by Mapleton Communications via LMA from Venture Technologies Group, will now be operated by Jesse Angelo’s Hella Media Group. The station launched as a webcaster earlier this year. Angelo previously worked for Mapleton Communications’ Redding cluster including hosting middays at AC “104.3 K-Shasta” KSHA.
