After launching in September with nighttime programming and adding weekend programming in January, NBC Sports Radio has finalized its daytime lineup in time for its launch on Monday, April 1 filled with former ESPN Radio talent.
Erik Kuselias, who has been hosting the 7 to 10pm slot since the network’s launch in September, will move to mornings. The former ESPN Radio host also co-hosts Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports Network.
He will be followed by another former ESPN Radio host from 9am-12pm in Brian Kenny. Kenny will retain his primary position as a host on MLB Network.
Former “105.3 The Fan” KRLD-FM Dallas host and current KXAS-TV sports anchor Newy Scruggs will follow with “Voices Of The Game” from 12-3pm. The program will feature a different co-host each day in the 1:00pm hour. Tuesdays will feature former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones, Sports Illustrated NBA writer Chris Mannix on Wednesdays, former New York Mets and Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine on Thursdays, and former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy on Fridays. The Monday co-host has yet to be revealed.
A pair of former NFL quarterbacks will host the 3-7pm timeslot. “Under Center With McNabb & Malone” will star Donovan McNabb and Mark Malone. McNabb is the recently retired former Philadelphia Eagles star, while Malone is the former Pittsburgh Steeler who previously spent a decade working a variety of roles at ESPN and currently serves as an analyst on Dial-Global’s NFL coverage.
Jon Stashower moves up from updates and weekends to take the vacated 7-10pm time slot, while the duo of Amani Toomer and Eytan Shander remain in late nights and Dan Schwartzmann in overnights.
Where will the new shows be heard? So far only one station has announced it will be a 24/7 affiliate of the network. 1450 WFTR Front Royal, VA will shift from Classic Country with the networks full launch. NBC has also recently added Larry H. Miller Communication’s “Zone” network of 1280 KZNS Salt Lake City, 97.5 KZNS-FM Coalville, and 960 KOVO Provo, UT to carry the night and weekend programming.
